This number is free to call from landlines and mobiles and combines the services previously offered by NHS Direct Wales and the GP Out of Hours service.

The number is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and offers guidance and care for non-emergency urgent medical problems.

When should you call NHS 111 Wales

Please call NHS 111 Wales if your condition is urgent and you feel it is not life threatening or if you need urgent medical attention from a GP outside their normal opening hours and cannot wait until the next working day. Please call 999 in a medical emergency. 

Your call will be answered by a trained call handler who will take some details. You will then be offered guidance and support, directed to the most appropriate service, or offered an appointment at one of our primary care centres. If the GP thinks it is necessary, a home visit may be arranged.
